This is indeed the style of gameplay ARK has become, if you are playing solo then you need to take your time with everything and always watch your back.

I tend to only play ARK/Rust/DayZ etc if I have at least another buddy with me so we can help each other out and have eyes all around us.

Playing solo pretty comfortable, the main thing to find server with not aggro alfa
